These terms apply when you create an account or subscribe to Savvy esl. Please read them. By subscribing you agree to them.
Savvy esl is run by Paula Green, a self-employed professional based in France (“we”, “us”). Our details are in the legal notice, and you can reach us at info@savvyesl.com.
A Savvy esl membership gives you access to our online library of lessons and worksheets for teachers of adult professionals: debate lessons, video lessons, grammar games and information gap crosswords, each as a print-ready file with teacher notes and an answer key. We add new lessons regularly and may update or improve existing ones. We do not promise a fixed number of new lessons in any month.
You need an account to subscribe. Give us accurate details, keep your password safe, and do not share your account with anyone else. A membership is for one person. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You can cancel at any time from your account page (“Manage billing”). You keep access until the end of the month you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that. We do not charge a cancellation fee.
If you are buying as a consumer (for personal purposes rather than as part of your business), EU law normally gives you 14 days to change your mind and cancel an online purchase for a full refund. This is called the right of withdrawal. Because your membership gives you instant access to digital content, that right ends once access begins, if you have asked for immediate access and you understand that you lose the right. We ask you to confirm both in a tick box before you pay, so by ticking it you give up the 14-day right for that purchase.
This does not stop you cancelling your membership. You can cancel at any time to stop future payments, as described above.
If you are buying for your business or teaching practice, the consumer withdrawal right does not apply.
Apart from your legal rights, we do not normally refund part of a month that has already begun. If you were charged by mistake, or you cannot reach the library because of a fault on our side, write to us and we will put it right, which may include a refund.
While your membership is active, you have a personal, non-transferable licence to download the lessons and use them with your own students, one to one or in a classroom. You may not:
Your licence lasts for as long as your membership is active. All rights in the lessons, text, design and logo stay with us.
Please use the site fairly. Do not try to break into it, overload it, or get around the access controls. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example by sharing files or accounts.
We aim to keep the site available, but it may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. We may change or retire individual lessons.
The lessons are teaching materials, and you decide how to use them with your students. We take care over their quality, but we do not guarantee particular results. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law as a consumer, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost income.
We may update these terms. If a change affects you in a way that matters, we will tell you before it takes effect. If you keep your membership after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change applies.
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
If we cannot settle a complaint between us, you may use a consumer mediator, free of charge.
If you are a consumer and we have not managed to settle a dispute after you sent us a dated written complaint (by letter or by email to info@savvyesl.com) describing what happened and what you are asking for, you may refer the matter to the consumer mediator named below. You can do this if you received a written reply from us rejecting your complaint, or if you have had no reply two months after sending it.
In accordance with articles L.616-1 and R.616-1 of the French Consumer Code, we have put in place a consumer mediation scheme. The mediation body we use is:
